Training IS Therapy

by | Feb 26, 2025

The unseen benefits of training:
Many people start their fitness journeys for many reasons, some of the most common tend to be:
🔹Lose weight and tone up.
🔹Reduce the risk of heart disease and or diabetes.
🔹Improve cardiovascular health.
🔹Achieve a specific athletic goal like run a 5km race.
More often than not, along the way there are many more benefits seen unrelated to the specific starting reason. You’ll have improved confidence, more energy, less anxiety, the ability to handle life’s stressors a little better and an overall improvement in your sense of well being and mental health.
Some people even start to value training as “therapy”, whether it’s getting out into the mountains, or a gym session with like minded people, making lifelong friends and having a wee bit of craic along the way.
A lot of our members start off chasing a goal, only to find the aforementioned benefits along the way.
We aren’t saying that training should replace therapy with a trained professional, but it can be a valuable asset along with it. If you are struggling, reach out to your GP, Lifeline or the Samaritans.
