A Personal Trainer….what and why?

by | Nov 19, 2018

Everyone has their own idea of what a personal trainer should be. Motivating. Strong. Fit. Healthy. In love with vegetables and never eating chips or ice cream. “You don’t ever eat chocolate do you?”

I can assure you, life’s too short.

I very much believe in practicing what I preach, not just telling everyone to do something yet doing the complete opposite. But, I think it’s extremely important to find the balance between eating the food you love and drinking what you enjoy. Working towards a goal must be realistic though. If you want super defined abs you can’t be out every weekend and expect it to happen, however if you’d rather enjoy some icecream every day and it makes you happy then who is anyone to tell you different? Everyone as an individual must decide how much their goal means to them.

In the dictionary the definition of a personal trainer… ‘A personal trainer is an exercise professional with the knowledge and experience to offer advice and guidance in the areas of exercise, fitness and nutrition. We are professionals who can assist you by designing a safe and effective exercise program to help you reach personal goals. I always try to delivered a fitness plan that is individual to you and put plenty of thought and planning into creating it around your goals and not just straight out of a manual.

The saying ‘enjoy what you do and you’ll never work another day in your life’ is pretty relevant at T1 Fitness. I got into this trade in 2012 and still enjoy it as much now as I did the day I started in Dundee.

There simply is nothing more satisfying than seeing the change you can make in someone’s life. Watching someone’s confidence grow, seeing them get fitter or seeing the joy dropping a size in their jeans brings them.

There’s so much utter nonsense on TV, on the internet and plastered over social media that it’s hard to know what to be at for a lot of people. Hopefully we can help make everything a bit clearer and more straight forward! Always remember if you’ve any questions about anything fitness or nutrition related, don’t be scared to ask. If we don’t know the answer we’ll always do our best to find out. Also if you aren’t where you want to be and need a bit more help, or don’t know what’s going wrong, let us know and we’ll be happy to help!
