Are you a salon worker?

If so, keep reading…
Long days on your feet, using your upper body all day, sometimes hunched over clients straining the back. We get it, the main body gets stressed especially the wrists, upper back, feet and ankles.
BUT being in good physical condition and having decent stamina will help ease these problems, and that’s where we can help!
This is a huge piece of the health and wellness puzzle for anyone, but especially for hairdressers, beauticians and salon workers alike. You might be thinking something like “I get a good workout everyday, I’m never off my feet”.
While that’s true in some regards (you stand for hours, you walk thousands of steps, you are on the go constantly), this can also wreak havoc on the body. Exercise could help remedy or act as a proactive approach.
Adding in exercise and resistance training a few times during the week can make huge differences for your overall health and wellness. The good news? It doesn’t have to be boring or a chore—it can be your release, your stress-reliever, the activity you look forward to, training with like minded people along the way!
How can exercise and resistance training help?
As well as getting into good general condition, a big part of being healthy is being proactive to prevent injury! You might not realise it, but it’s very easy to get hurt on the job when you’re a salon worker—and if something happens to you and you need time to recover, that can bring up all sorts of hassle and stress. This is just one reason that injury prevention is important.
Take care of your body as a whole, but make sure pay attention to the wrists, knees & elbows, stretch often, invest in a good supportive shoe, focus on a good posture while in the salon and build up your strength and conditioning through exercise a few times a week.
If you’ve made it this far and are interested in starting your journey, we have a large timetable of large group classes to suit all abilities, Monday 11am may just be the perfect one to get you started on your day off.
