Goal Setting

by | Feb 26, 2025

This is a brilliant time to sit down and set some goals for the year ahead. You probably see it everywhere, but if you are like a lot of people you might be scratching your head thinking “Oh my word, I barely know my goal for the week never mind the year ahead” 😭

Here’s some tips to help make the process a little bit easier:
🔸Start small🔸
-Meet a daily step count for the week ahead.
-Eat 3 portions of fruit/veg daily.
-Get to the gym (insert a realistic amount here, for some that may be once per week, for others it could be 3 times).
Making the goal small enough makes it achievable and sets the wheels in motion for developing long lasting habits.
🔸Set a medium term goal🔸
-In three months time I will achieve a thirty minute walk three times per week consistently.
-In three months time I’ll not even have to think about my fruit and vegetable intake it will already be a habit.
🔸Long term goal🔸
A long term goal would be something you want to achieve in potentially a year, or many months. It could be to lose X amount of lbs, run a 10km race, lift a certain amount of weight, fit into a specific outfit. Your short and medium term goals should aid in achieving your long term goal.
🔹Make your goals SMART🔹
*Specific – what are you going to do exactly.
*Measurable – how will you measure it.
*Achievable- starting small to not get disheartened.
*Relevant-in line with your long term goal for health.
*Time bound- have a time period to achieve it.
It just takes a little bit of planning but as the saying goes, “fail to prepare, prepare to fail”.
Big goals are great and can get the ball rolling, but try not to aim so big that you go from 0-100 in a month and end up with shin splints, zero energy and fall short of an unachievable goal and derailing your self confidence in the process.
Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Brick by brick pave the way and once you reach one goal, set another, using the same method.
