How to get your child off their phone (As you read this on your phone)

by | Mar 14, 2022

In todays society, everyone is on their phone. Standing in a queue, scroll through Facebook. In the waiting room, quick look on instagram. At the traffic lights, enough time for Tik Tok. Is it any wonder really that your children can’t set their phone down?
Back in the day, it was as quick as you could get outside to play. Get covered in mud. Use your imagination to play games. Now it’s an iPad or an xbox. Where does this new way of living fit into children’s physical health, strength, confidence, social skills, mental health and ability to enjoy nature?
The answer, we believe is balance. A balance between enough screen time for your child to give yourself a break, but ensuring they get sufficient exercise on a daily basis.
A quick stat, obesity rates in the UK in nursery aged children increased by around 4.5 percentage points between 2019-20 and 2020-21, the highest annual rise since the National Child Measurement Programme began.
